Frequently Asked Questions

1. How often are the FIFA rankings updated?

Our FIFA rankings are updated daily. We fetch the latest data from official FIFA sources and calculate any changes in real-time based on match results.

2. What formula is used to calculate FIFA points?

FIFA uses an Elo-based rating system. The formula is: P_new = P_before + I × (W - W_e), where I is the match importance factor, W is the actual result (1=win, 0.5=draw, 0=loss), and W_e is the expected result based on current ratings.

3. What is the match importance factor (I)?

The importance factor varies by match type: Friendly matches (5-10), Nations League group stage (15), World Cup / Continental qualifiers (25), Continental championship finals (35), Confederations Cup (50), and World Cup finals (60).

4. How is the expected result (W_e) calculated?

W_e = 1 / (10^(-dr/600) + 1), where dr is the difference in points between the two teams.
